Thorium - a great primer and site to follow

http://thoriumenergy.blogspot.com/

As a professional energy trader who reads virtually all of the available research, I was pretty shocked last years when I was meeting with some top Research Scientists running a prominent PHD program and they suggested that Thorium was the key to the worlds energy crisis. I had never even heard of Thorium and certainly didn't know anyone doing work on the subject.

For those that don't know, its essential a safer nuclear process with the primary advantage being that it essentially can't be weaponized. If you look at conventional nuclear and think of Pakistan, North Korea, Iraq, etc., you can imagine how difficult it would be to argue against allowing developing nations a "safe" nuclear technology.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Nat gas bottoming?

Is Nat gas making a short term bottom?

UNG made new lows yesterday morning, only to bounce, close higher, and rally today. While short term fundamentals could easily drive to cash down to $1, and medium term could test $5, I think people want to see how the heat wave impacted demand. Typically, April heat waves lead to strong electricity prices and high gas demand, but these times are not typical.

I think people still haven't fully worked through the ramifications of the Bernstein piece on Marcellus drilling costs. If shale is a lot less profitable than people thought, then the whole forward curve needs to be reworked (again). Could be an interesting development as most of the smart money has gotten pretty bearish.
